Meow's Favourite Pictures

Just a bunch of pictures, which I absolutely love, and would like to share with you ....

1.3.06

This was taken during a weekend late in June 2005. We were camping with some friends on the Murray River, which borders Victoria and New South Wales, near Yarrawonga, trying out all our gear before our big trip to Cape York. It was the middle of Winter, but a fairly mild day. Chicky just HAD TO GO SWIMMING, even though the water was freezing. Here she had just swung her arms, flinging water everywhere. I just love the sparkling water droplets everywhere.

It looks like your winters are warmer than ours in northwest Washington State. We are at 47.?? north lattitude. How far south of the equator was this?

My sons amazed me as far as how cold water they would get into. When they were small we lived in a waterfront home on Vashon Island in Puget Sound, off of Seattle. The water was kind of cold even in the summer (47F) but they were in it a lot.

Dick ... our winters can get quite cold ... not snow cold, but pretty cold for us !! I think our average daytime temp in Winter is around 12ºC, which isn't too bad. It gets to 0ºC on the odd occasion overnight. From what I can figure out, the place we were camping is around 36ºSouth Lattitude. Where I live is closer to 38 South.
The river this day was quite cold ... Chicky didn't stay in long ... just long enough for a photo or two, then she needed rugging up. It was a gorgeous sunny day, though, around 21ºC.
